Following the inauguration of Taiwan-based chipmaker Epistar's plant in Changzhou, China, Lite-On has indicated it plans to cooperate with Epistar to develop new LED lighting products, according to KC Terng, CEO of Lite-On. Terng noted prospects for the third quarter are to maintain double-digit revenue growth.

Lite-On added that the production bases have been moved to Changzhou from Guangdong and production at the fourth plant area has begun.

Lite-On's Changzhou plant began mass production in September 2009 with a total initial investment of US$600 million. The aim was to turn the location into Lite-On's operating center in eastern China. The center is expected to achieve revenues above CNY75 billion (US$12 billion) in 2015.

Terng stated the Changzhou plant has been showing good performance since 2009. Revenues from power supplies have reached CNY2 billion.

The epitaxy plant co-invested in by Lite-On and Epistar in Changzhou will be inaugurated on September 23, 2011. Lite-On controls a 28.9% stake while Epistar controls 60% of the epitaxy plant. The rest of the shares belong to China-based TV firms.
