Summary: The Galaxy S II’s charge begins in September with Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G.
At a special event in New York on Monday night, Sprint took the wraps of the Galaxy S II, which will hit the U.S. in three forms.
While each version of the phone retains the same basic specifications (1.2 GHz CPU, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and 16 GB storage) Samsung has tweaked each device slightly to suit each carrier’s needs.
On Sprint, the S II is dubbed the tongue-twisting “Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G” for some well-intentioned reason. Sprint is making their version of the device available on September 16, which it says will make it the first carrier to offer it. (That seems like a pretty good bet.)
Next is the AT&T version of the Galaxy S II, which AT&T hasn’t dropped an official name for quite yet. Thinner than its counterparts, AT&T’s S II also comes with a 4.3-inch screen, which is smaller than the 4.5-inch monstrosities available on the other two versions. AT&T says their version will arrive in a few weeks,
Similar to AT&T, T-Mobile isn’t naming its S II anything crafty like the rumored “Hercules”, which is, quite frankly, perfectly okay. The carrier is also similarly vague on the phone’s release date of “this fall”
One thing all the versions have in common? Carrier-specific bloatware. Surprised?
