The life and death of HP's TouchPad

It was just 6 months ago when HP with lots of bells and whistles revealed the TouchPad, but on a surpize move, on the 18th of August the company decided to kill it off . This decision shocked industry watchers and HP partners, but made many consumers happy who bought the tablet for as cheap as $100.

When HP announced the TouchPad this spring, everyone looked pretty excited as the software platform used by it, Palm’s webOS, looked like the ideal fit for a tablet and a possible iOS and Android contenter. Unfortunately things didn't quite go the way HP hoped. The company may have sold each single TouchPad, however that doesn't mean it was a proven hit.
