Hisense I’TV: Chinese tablet with a TV chip inside

Hisense itv

Chinese consumer electronics company Hisense has introduced a new tablet called the I’TV. The company calls it a personalized smart TV, and the idea is that you can use the tablet primarily as a mobile television screen, but it can also run apps.

The I’TV is designed to work with a Hisense television set so that you can stream programming from your TV to your tablet over a home network, or stream content from your tablet to the big screen TV. You can also use the tablet remotely by streaming video from your home to your tablet over the internet.

The tablet has a 1280 x 768 pixel display and can support 1080p HD video playback.

Hisense says you can also use the tablet to surf the web, access other media, or access social tools. The tablet will come with a series of embedded apps for these functions — it’s not clear what operating system the I’TV will run (although it looks like Android) or if there will be any sort of an app store for third party applications.

I doubt we’ll see this particular device outside of China anytime soon.
